The out-going Vice Chancellor of Federal University Ndufu-Alike Ikwo, Professor Oye Ibidapo-Obe, has handed over to the deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor Mosto Onuoha, in a brief ceremony.
Speaking, Professor Ibidapo-Obe, described his five-year tenure at FUNAI as very eventful and thanked the Federal Government for giving him the opportunity to explore a new and virgin area.
He said his tenure was made successful with the help of experienced technocrats such as the Deputy Vice Chancellor, the Registrar, Mr. G. O. Chukwu, the Senate and Deans of Faculties and a host of others.
He said his five-year tenure in Ebonyi state had enriched his knowledge, stressing that a solid foundation for a world-class university had been laid in FUNAI and expressed the hope that the in-coming Vice Chancellor would build on and surpass the foundation.
Receiving the handover note, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor Mosto Onuoha, described Professor Ibidapo-Obe as a high flying achiever and stressed that his legacies in FUNAI would long endure.
Professor Onuoha, on behalf of the Senate, Management, staff and students, wished Professor Ibidapo-Obe success in his future endeavours.
It will be recalled that Professor Ibidapo-Obe, Professor of Systems Engineering and former Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos (2000 to 2007) was appointed as the pioneer Vice Chancellor of FUNAI on February 13th, 2011.
Already, the Federal Government has named Professor Chinedum Nwajiuba, Professor of Agricultural Economics and Dean of PostGraduate Studies, Imo State University, Owerri as the substantive Vice Chancellor.
